In 1972 at the age of 12, Bruce Durden, the president of Durden Surveying and Mapping Inc., started work in his family's surveying business, owned by his father, H.A. Durden & Associates, as a tail chainman.

Learning the basics in the next five years, he then moved up to the position as head "instrument man ", where he began running the latest in advance surveying equipment.

In 1979-1980 he worked as a I man and continued his "hands-on" education in the surveying industry until he became a junior party chief at the age of 21.

In 1981-1984 he was promoted to computer operator and researcher, moving from the field to the office where he oversaw 6 full-time working crews and an additional 2 leased crews as the business continued to expand.

Bruce continued to work in the family business, in various positions, until leaving at the beginning of 1995 to create his own surveying company, Durden Surveying & Mapping, Inc.

Over the years since starting the business in 1995, Durden and staff have been involved in community affairs and promoting the business by sponsoring motorsports and local soccer, baseball and football teams around Jacksonville.

Today, Durden Surveying continues to grow through Professional and Courteous services to their ever growing list of satisfied clients. Small or Large, we take pride in the highest quality surveys at a standard that was initiated by Bruce's grandfather and father over 60 years ago.
